Museum of Musical Instruments
Music and sound is such an important aspect to the Musical Instrument Museum. When approaching the rebrand of the organization, the focus went beyond the exhibits of the museum, something that transcended the obvious. The focus then went to what these musical instruments do. How they affect us, and what they can create. From here, it was asked, how can music be made visual? After looking at sheet music, different types of instruments, and the similarities of these two. Line work was a reoccurring visual element. In the numerous string instruments used all over the world, in the sheet music, and in the visual representation of sound waves, it was decided that line work would be the focus of the rebranding and system used. The line work and the visual representation of these sound waves make up the initials and the acronym of the letterform mark. The concept extends beyond the logo mark and into the systematic branding.
